What is TransAzteca?

TransAzteca is a multi-day mountain bike stage race across central Mexico, combining challenging terrain, world-class trails, and a fully supported race experience. Riders travel point-to-point through iconic locations, racing stages each day while logistics, transportation, and accommodations are handled by the organization.

Is accommodation included in TransAzteca?

Yes, accommodation is included during the official race days only.

TransAzteca provides lodging at official race hotels for each night of the race, starting from the first race night and continuing through the final stage. All accommodations during these official race days are organized by the event.

Accommodation before the race and after the event is not included and must be arranged independently by each participant.

What should I bring for the camping night?

In addition to regular riding gear, riders should bring:

  • A sleeping bag rated for 0°C / 32°F or colder

  • Warm sleepwear

  • Personal items needed for overnight comfort

Tents and sleeping mats are provided by the organization.

Which destinations does the race visit?

TransAzteca is a point-to-point race that travels through some of the most iconic riding locations in central Mexico. The route includes:

  • Mexico City (race start and final return)

  • Desierto de los Leones

  • Cardosanto

  • Nevado de Toluca

  • Ixtapan de la Sal

  • Taxco

This journey-style format is a defining part of the TransAzteca experience.

Is TransAzteca a supported race?

Yes. TransAzteca is a fully supported event. This includes:

  • Airport pick up

  • Accommodation during official race days

  • Daily bike and luggage transport

  • Medical support and ambulances

  • Mechanical support

  • Aid stations and hydration points

  • Professional timing and race management

What meals are included?

During official race days, TransAzteca includes:

  • Daily breakfast at official race hotels

  • Lunch or aid-station meals during the race stages

  • Dinner at official race hotels

Meals outside the official race days are not included.

How do I get to the race start?

Participants are responsible for arriving in Mexico City before the start of the event. Official airport transfers are available on designated arrival days, and detailed instructions are shared with registered riders.

Who can participate in TransAzteca?

TransAzteca is designed for experienced mountain bikers with solid technical skills and good physical preparation. Riders should be comfortable with long days, technical terrain, and changing environments.
